Today’s guest is Louise McCullough. Louise is the first female contestant to pass the selection process on Channel 4’s documentary ‘SAS Who Dares Wins’ and showed incredible grit and determination throughout the most recent series.
To mimic the militarys recent changes of allowing women to apply for all divisions of the services SAS Who Dares Wins opened up its doors to women this year and I was so excited to see the women in action showing that we are as strong and able as men.
Over the eleven day period, Louise and twenty four other participants travelled to South America for gruelling challenges and training, typically used as part of army and special forces recruitment. The process included physical exercises, beastings, interrogation, and more, to identify recruits who would be capable of being an elite special forces soldier.
Originally from Northern Ireland, Louise is a qualified orthopaedic surgeon who graduated from the University of Dundee in 2002. Through her career working in the North East of Scotland her specialist areas of interest include trauma, orthopaedic oncology and sports injuries.
Her hobbies include running, boxing, weight training and staying fit, and she is a doctor for Aberdeen Rugby and the Scottish Rugby Union. These interests are what led her to apply for the show and excel throughout.
What I love about Louise is her genuine love, and dedication, for exercise and sport and she shows perfectly how it can help you to develop a strong mindset. Your body gives in before your mind ever would and she was the perfect example of this. At 40 years old Louise showed that age is just a number and her mindset pushed her to success on the show. In this episode she gives advice on how to harness that and achieve anything you wish.
I hope you enjoy the podcast.
